Midwifery

A midwife is a trained professional who helps women with pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. A midwife spends her days teaching women about pregnancy, conception and parenting, arranging and reviewing ultrasound and blood testing, referring to other specialists when needed, advising medicine, inspecting and caring for newborn infants, and offering guidance on breastfeeding, immunization, fertility and general mother and baby health. Career prospects can also be found in community, education and research centers.
