Nursing Informatics

Nursing informatics is a nursing field that joins nursing, information, and computer science to maintain and develop medical data and systems to support nursing practice and improve outcomes for patient care. The aim of nursing informatics is to improve the health of populations, families, communities and individuals by improving communication and information management.  The contribution of nursing informatics to the improvement and development of technology, such as electronic medical records and computerized service providers, was critical in minimizing health care costs, medical errors and patient care delays. A variety of medical settings, from hospitals to health care providers, require nurse informatics specialists. Representatives of nurse vendors, nurse managers, nurse programmers, and nurse communicators are examples of popular careers in information technology.
