Patient safety is a discipline that emphasizes health care safety by preventing, recording, reducing and estimating medical errors which often lead to adverse effects. It is the avoidance of unintended or unexpected harm to people during the provision of health care. It's preventing unwanted or unforeseen damage to people during health care provision. Patients should be treated in a safe environment and protected from preventable harm. Approximately 440,000 people die every year from preventable hospital errors. It's important that patients, their families, and healthcare professionals should be involved in patient safety to be aware of the issues, mitigation strategies and best practices for ensuring patient safety for all.
